I tried to perform Windows 7 installation using Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro Retina this morning. It seemed everything was going ok until I got this error message while rebooting to Windows 7 (File: \windows\system32\drivers\AppleSSD.sys). I thought I got this error message due to my mistake so what i’ve tried to resolve the problem is to perform re-installation, but didn’t work. I spent some time on this issue and finally I found the way to get rid of this error. Today I would like to share how to fix this error screen. If you are one of the people who is having trouble with this error, please follow the steps below. Hope you successfully resolve this issue.
Step 01. Turn on your Macbook pressing and holding Option key to boot to Mac OS X.
Step 02. Please visit this site NTFS for Mac and download the software to get a permission to access Windows files.
Step 03. Once you installed the NTFS for Mac software, please navigate to bootcamp\windows\system32\drivers
Step 04. Find and Delete AppleSSD.sys
Step 05. Restart to Windows 7. Problem should be fixed.
Tips. Even if you installed Windows 7 on Mac, your Mac keyboard is not functioning very well. If you are having trouble with the Mac keyboard not functioning properly on Windows 7, try this method. This method will make your keyboard functioning very well on Windows 7 in your Mac.
Step 01. Boot to Windows 7 and go to your Windows 7 booting USB.
Step 02. Navigate to BootCamp and launch Setup.exe.
Deleted AppleSSD.sys using Paragon, trackpad not working for the further installation.
Use these steps if you’re installing Windows 7 on your Mac for the first time. BE SURE TO FOLLOW STEPS 7-13 VERY CAREFULLY AND EXACTLY!
1. Start up your Mac in macOS.
2. Use the compatibility tables to make sure you have a Mac that supports the version of Windows you’re installing.
3. If your copy of Windows came on a DVD, you might need to create a disk image of it to work with Boot Camp.
4. Connect a 16GB or larger USB flash drive that you can erase. Leave this flash drive connected to your Mac until Windows installation is finished.
5. Open Boot Camp Assistant from the Utilities folder (or use Spotlight to find it) and click Continue.
6. Select only the options to create a Windows install disk and to download the latest Windows support software from Apple. Then click Continue.
7. Insert your Windows install disc if you haven’t done so already, or choose your Windows installation ISO, then click Continue. Boot Camp erases your USB flash drive and prepares it for Windows installation. When you see “Download Support Software for Windows 7”, close the Boot Camp Assistant window to quit the app. DO NOT LET BOOT CAMP PROCEED!!!!!!!!!
8. Use the Apple compatibility tables (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205016#tables) to find the Windows support software (drivers) you need for the version of Windows and the Mac that you’re using.
9. Click the link in the table to download the related software.
10. After the file downloads, double-click it from the Finder to decompress (unzip) it.
11. Open the resulting folder. Locate the following files in this folder and drag them to your USB Flash drive. When prompted if you want to replace the existing items on the flash drive, click Yes:
$WinPEDriver$ (folder)
AutoUnattend.xml
BootCamp (folder)
12. Open Boot Camp Assistant again, then click Continue.
13. Select only the option to “Install Windows… or later version.”
14. Click Install, then follow the onscreen prompts to repartition your drive and install Windows.
15. When you complete the assistant, your Mac restarts to the Windows installer. When you’re asked where you want to install Windows, select the BOOTCAMP partition, then click Drive Options and format your Boot Camp partition.
16. Follow the onscreen prompts to finish installing Windows.
