Trying to reset Motorola Moto Maxx to its factory default? Since hard resetting deletes all of your data and settings, we recommend you to back up before performing hard reset. Here are two important things to check before hard resetting. Please try to perform soft reset or wipe cache partition first. Problems could be resolved by soft resetting. And try to fully charge your phone, otherwise your phone might be turned off while resetting due to less battery power.

 

Wipe Cache Partition

Step 01. Make sure your phone is turned off completely.

Step 02. Press and hold Volume Down + Power buttons until the boot option menu appears on the screen.

Step 03. Navigate to Recovery option using volume down button and select it with the power key.

Step 04. When the Android robot comes up on the screen, Press and Hold Volume Up + Power buttons until the Android system recovery mode appears.

Step 05. In the Android system recovery mode, select wipe cache partition.

Step 06. After the process is done, select reboot system now.

 

SOFT RESET

Step 01. Press and Hold the Power button for about 10 seconds until the screen turns to black. Phone will automatically reboot.

 

HARD RESET

Step 01. Make sure your phone is turned off completely.

Step 02. Press and hold Volume Down + Power buttons until the boot option menu appears on the screen.

Step 03. Navigate to Recovery option using volume down button and select it with the power key.

Step 04. When the Android robot comes up on the screen, Press and Hold Volume Up + Power buttons until the Android system recovery mode appears.

Step 05. In the Android system recovery mode, select wipe data/factory reset.

Step 06. It will ask you to confirm. Select Yes — delete all user data

Step 07. After the process is done, select reboot system now.
