Hello everybody, it is P&T IT BROTHER. We had so many customers, and still have customers with forgotten WiFi password…. We see that most people reset their router to reset the WiFi password, but if you do that, it takes time, and it is not easy for computer beginners like your parents. So.. we will let you know a much easier way to find the forgotten WiFi password without resetting your router. 😀 😀 😀 This tip will work on Microsoft Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7. Let’s find out how.
( Before we go ahead, we need at least one computer that is already connected to your WiFi network. If you don’t have any computer that is already connected to your WiFi network, this tip won’t work. In that case, you will need to reset your WiFi router )
How to find the forgotten WiFi password on Windows 10 and Windows 8
This tip has same instructions for Windows 10 and Windows 8 operating systems. Windows 8.1 also works.
- Bring your mouse cursor to the left-bottom edge of your screen, do a right click, then click “Command Prompt (Admin)“
- This will open Windows Command Prompt as administrator’s right.
- Type “netsh wlan show profile” to see saved WiFi profiles on your computer.
- Type “netsh wlan show profile name=”your network name” key=clear” to see the forgotten WiFi password. (If your WiFi network name is “Home”, type Home in that profile name.)
- If you look at the “Key Content” under “Security settings“, there is the WiFi password you are looking for !
Amazing tip. Isn’t it ? If you do not see anything in “Key Content“, you are probably running Command Prompt not as administrator. You must run Command Prompt as administrator.
How to find the forgotten WiFi password on Windows 7
Instructions are the same. Only difference is the Command Prompt location.
- Click the Windows Start button.
- In Windows Search bar, type “cmd“
- In the search result, you will see “Command Prompt” Don’t click it yet.
- Do a right click on it, and it will display a menu.
- Click “Run as administrator“
- Rest instructions are same as above.
This tip only works if there is a computer that is already connected to your wireless network. If you only have one computer or device, and forgot the password, this won’t work. If you have troubles doing it, let us know. We will help you to find the WiFi password. Thank you.
