I Believe there is a bunch of Mac users (Especially who get used with Windows operating system) are looking for My Computer icon on the Mac OS X desktop. I also spent a little bit of time to find that icon on my macbook pro retina. Here is very easy instruction with pictures. Please follow the easy steps below to see my computer icon on your desktop.
Step 01. Open Finder > Click on the Finder on the top menu > Preference
Step 02. Click on Preference to see more options.
Step 03. Click on General tab > Check “Hard disks”
Step 04. Now you can see your hard drive icon on your Mac OS X. Hope this is helpful! 🙂

oh wait nvm. wrong website XD <3
The internal drives is not the same as “My Computer”. Choose the “Sidebar” tab, and under “DEVICES”, put a check for the type of computer (MacBook, etc.). Now you get an icon for the type of computer in the sidebar, and selecting it will show not only the internal drive, but also external drives and networked devices. Back to school for you.
