Instructions on how to perform hard reset on your Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 5 smartphone (Motorola & LG)
Hello! Today, we are going to learn how to perform factory default in two different ways. This instruction is created for Nexus 6 and Nexus 5 smartphone. Let’s get started!
Factory Default in Settings (Nexus 6 & Nexus 5)
A backup is recommended before the factory default. If you have not made any backup, please make a backup first. This will remove all of your files and apps from your device.
- Go to “Settings” –> “Backup & reset” –> “Factory data reset” –> “Erase everything” (if it asks PIN, enter your PIN number to process.)
How to hard reset (Nexus 6)
A hard reset can be performed when you cannot load android, or when you have problems with android operating system. This also will erase everything from your phone, so make a backup first.
- Turn off your Nexus 6.
- Press and hold “Volume Down“, “Volume Up“, and “Power“ buttons, the Nexus will turn on.
- Press “Volume Down“ button twice to highlight “Recovery.”
- Press “Power” button to begin Recovery mode. You’ll see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
- Press and hold “Power” button. Then, while holding “Power” button, press and release “Volume Up“ button once.
- Press “Volume Down” button twice to highlight “Wipe data/factory reset,” and then press “Power” button to select it.
- Press “Volume Down” button 7 times to highlight “Yes – delete all user data,” and then press “Power“ button to select it.
- After the reset is complete, press “Power” button to select the option to reboot your device.
How to hard reset (Nexus 5)
A hard reset can be performed when you cannot load android, or when you have problems with android operating system. This also will erase everything from your phone, so make a backup first.
- Turn off your Nexus 5.
- Press and hold “Volume Down“, “Volume Up“, and “Power“ buttons, the Nexus will turn on.
- Press “Volume Down“ button twice to highlight “Recovery.”
- Press “Power” button to begin Recovery mode. You’ll see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark and the words “No command.”
- Press and hold “Power” button. While holding “Power” button, press and release Volume Up button once.
- Press “Volume Down” button 4 times to highlight “Wipe data/factory reset,” and press “Power” button to select it.
- Press “Volume Down” button once to highlight “Yes” and press “Power” button to select it.
- After the reset is complete, press “Power” button to select the option to reboot your device.
