How to perform Hard Reset & Soft Reset on Samsung Galaxy Note5

Here is an instruction of how to perform hard reset and soft reset on Galaxy Note 5. If you are trying to perform hard reset due to some error code issues to installation problems, we recommend you to try soft reset first before performing hard reset. If soft resetting doesn’t work for you, then try to hard reset.

As it mentions below, it’s safe to fully charge your Galaxy Note 5. The reason why your phone is needed to be fully charged is that it could be shut down unexpectedly during the progress. If the device is shut down due to the lack of battery power, it can cause more serious software issues into the system. Accordingly, it’s always safe to fully charge your phone before operating.

Few important things before hard resetting:

  • Check your battery is charged more than 50%
  • Try to back up important files before hard resettings (Hard Reset erases all of your data and settings)
  • Try to soft reset first before performing hard reset

 

Soft Reset

Method 01. Press and hold the power button for about 10 to 15 seconds until the screen turns to black and the Samsung Logo appears on screen.

Method 02. Remove the battery > Wait for 1 minute > Put the battery back in > Turn it on

 

Hard Reset

Step 01. Please shut down your Galaxy Note 5 completely.

Step 02. Press and Hold Home +Volume Up + Power keys together at the same time.

Step 03. You can release all keys when you see Samsung Logo appears on the screen.

Step 04. Press the volume down button to navigate to wipe data/factory reset option and Press the power button to choose.

Step 05. Select Yes – delete all user data and then select reboot system now.

Step 06. It’s done! Now you need to configure settings.
