Today we are going to share how to factory reset and wipe cache partition on Huawei P9. If your phone is at the one of the following situation, you might want to perform wipe cache partition or factory reset.
- My phone screen won’t turn on (Black Screen).
- My phone won’t boot up or start up.
- My phone keeps restarting or stuck at loading.
If you decided to perform factory reset, we recommend you to wipe cache partition first, because wiping cache partition won’t remove any of your data. The problem could be resolved without removing any data.
Screen won’t turn on?
- Press and hold down the power button for more than 20 seconds. If it didn’t work for you, Press and hold down Volume UP + Power buttons at the same time for more than 20 seconds until the screen turns on.
Won’t start up? Keeps freezing? (3 methods)
1. Safe Mode
Step 01. Shut Down your phone completely.
Step 02. Turn the phone on and when the logo comes up, press and hold volume down key until it completely boots up to Safe Mode. If you see at the bottom left corner, you will see safe mode.
2. Wipe Cache Partition
Step 01. Make sure the device is turned off.
Step 02. Press and Hold the Volume Up + Power buttons at the same time. When the Huawei P9 Logo appears on the screen, release the power button only, but keep holding down the volume up key until you see the recovery mode.
Step 03. Soon you will see this screen. Select Wipe Cache Partition using the volume down key and select it using the power key.
3. Factory Reset
Step 01. Please turn off your phone completely.
Step 02. Press and Hold Down the Volume Up + Power buttons together. When the Huawei P9 Logo comes up on the screen, release the power button only, but keep holding the volume up key until you boot up into recovery mode.
Step 03. Navigate to Wipe data/factory reset using the volume key and select it using the power button.
Step 04. It will ask you to delete for sure one more time. Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset.
Step 05. When the hard reset processing is done, select Reboot System Now to restart your phone.
