Windows cannot find c:\program files(x86)\search Extensions\client.exe
In this morning, I turned on my computer (Windows 7) to work and got this error message. I believe there is a bunch of people struggling with this error message. Here I’m sharing the solution that i used to resolve this issue.
Step 01. Go to My computer.
Step 02. Double click on the C Drive.
Step 03. Go to Windows -> System32 -> Tasks folder.
Step 04. Find and delete all the files that has a word “Rocket“
Step 05. Now try rebooting your computer. The error message won’t be appeared anymore.
Don’t have a free virus protection yet ? After removing Client.exe, download a free antivirus program to protect your computer from harmful threats !

I am really thankful to you. I was terribly disturbed about this error for the last so many days. Tried several ways suggested on the net. Even chatted with Microsoft Officer who too could not show me the way out. On the contrary they wanted high price for clearing this error. Then I thought of even formatting my PC and then I came across your blog. Never imagined the problem will be so easily solved. Great ! I am impressed
You’re very welcome! Happy to hear that you figured it out! π π
hello ~ would deleting those files won’t affect anything? I mean, I already did what you’ve told. and voila, after rebooting the message doesn’t appear anymore. Was it already deleted and won’t cause any after effects???
No. I don’t think so. It will be fine. π

Very Handy info. Drove me crazy for a bit, I was hoping this was why I couldn’t load certain websites but… no luck. Thank you
You’re Welcome π
The message does not appear anymore but i can browse on internet explorer or even chrome. It stated offline. But i’m able to connect my internet on my outlook. What happen? Please help
The files (having a word “Rocket”) doesn’t affect Internet Explorer or Chrome. Seems like it’s about internet settings. Check if the offline mode is turned on.

i got a new computer and set it up yesterday, this morning I aM getting this error message when I start the computer and can’t even get to my desktop- what can I do????
What Windows do you have ? (Windows 7 or Windows 8)
I wonder what is the function of rocket in the task folder. Can you simply tell me what was that thing? Thank you
I also just bought my laptop a few days ago & am experiencing the same problem.II get that message right after I put in my password. Once I x out the message my screen stays blank and never goes to my desktop. I have windows 8.1.
Do you know how to do a system restore ?
For Windows 8, before turn on your laptop, press and hold “shift” button and press the power button.
This will let you in to recovery mode. Select “Adavanced Options” then select “System Restore”. You can roll back your system with it. Follow the instructions carefully.
Thank you.
This is very very helpful.
Thank you so much and may God bless you more π

Have a Wonderful Day! π

This does not work for me. I donated my old Auto Cad system to a lady who is struggling to get by. Her boys decided to down load some games along with the virus crap that comes with them. I used ReImage to rebuild the operating system, plus Kaspersky, plus Registry Mechanic. I still get the Client.exe message and it is driving me batty. Besides that boot message the system seems to run fine. I have password protected the computer so that the boys never do this kind of damage again.
In you to solution to can’t find client.exe, the subfolder of system232, “tasks”, does not exist with my xp media edition. Also, I searched dir client.exe/s and it does not exist on my hard drive.
Thanks, bro! Life saver!
I was able to locate and delete the files and no longer get the error message popping up. However I still get an error that I am unable to connect to the proxy server when I launch chrome.
I tried your instructions on how to fix error X86 but can not find any folder with “Rocket” in it and still have the error coming up? Anything else I can try? I put Rocket in my computer search and nothing came up. HELP!
Bob
What version of Windows do you have ?
You should try to stop the rocket program from starting.
Thank you very much. It has worked woo!!!!!
It’s working. Thanks brother..
