In this morning, I tried to install Skype to chat with my friend and I got the error message. It says “The installer has excountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2738” I spent a lot of time to find out the solution for the error code 2738 and i finally found the method to solve the problem. Today, I want to share the methods for the people who’s struggling with this error message. Here are two different solutions for Windows 7 32bit and Windows 7 64bit. So Please check your Windows version first and then choose the right method for you.
NOTE: Check if your Windows is 32bit or 64bit before start
How to check: Go to Windows Start Menu > Right Click on My Computer > Click on Properties > Now you should see your Windows information in the right pane.
For Windows 7 32bit
Step 01. Go to Windows Start Menu > Open Run > Type cmd in the blank field
Step 02. Once the Command Prompt Windows appears, Type reg delete “HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}” /f” and hit Enter
Step 03. Type cd %windir%\system32 in the command prompt and hit Enter.
Step 04. Type regsvr32.exe vbscript.dll and hit Enter
For Windows 7 64bit
Step 01. Go to Windows Start Menu > Open Run > Type cmd in the blank field
Step 02. Once the Command Prompt Windows appears, Type reg delete “HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}” /f” and hit Enter
Step 03. Type cd %windir%\system64 in the command prompt and hit Enter.
